Opinion on background of the speech
I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King was a speech that being presented on “March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom” on 28th August 1963. In our opinion, the speech was able to bring significant because it was made in front of many Americans who attended the march.During the occasion,King talked about "I Have a Dream" speech in which he emphasized o the hopes on the Civil Rights movement in America during 1960s.
"I have a dream that this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident,that all men are created equal."..I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
We believe that the speech was strong enough to give impact to the audience. King talked his dream in a most diplomatic style without hurting any sides of people.
Speech Style
In our opinion, I Have a Dream can be categorized as an informative and persuasive speech. The great speech by King was remembered until today because it brings significant to the audiences. The speech talked about a person’s dream to establish justice in the world as well as to open people’s eyes on the unequal treatment towards African American during 1960s. King believed that everything was created equally and no one should be discriminated without reasons. Besides that, the speech also gives some form of inspiration because it leads to the change of behavior and emotion. King was able to influence people by the content of I Have a Dream Speech.
Opinion on the Particular Personality
Based on the speech, we believe that Martin Luther King possess great personality needs to a good leader. People tend to inspire on his words and thus they were willing to change their behavior and thought. Besides that, King was also a credible leader because he had courage to take action and made people believe in him. As a leader, King was really concerned to establish integrity among his people. What we inspired most was he used non-violent to grab people’s attention and thus changed their mentality.
Review on Martin Luther King
Martin Luther King was a famous civil rights, born in Atlanta, Georgia on 15th January 1929. His wife was a lady named Coretta Scott. King’s father and grandfather were both Baptist preachers, actively involved in the Civil Rights movement. King graduated from Morehouse College in 1948. After considering careers in medicine and law, he entered the ministry. While studying at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, he was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and Henry David Thoreau. King used to be a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama
There were several contributions contributed by Martin Luther King such as protest against bus segregation, influenced black students in a “student sit-in” from his book, “Stride Toward Freedom 1958”, freedom riders campaign, advocating non-violent student sit-ins and March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and so on.
Martin Luther King involved in many struggles in order to establish justice between black people and white people. He traveled the country making speeches and inspiring people to become involved in civil rights movement. He also urged economic boycotts. He argued that African American had also considerable economic power. King always stressed the importance of the ballot. He argued that all Americans had rights to involve in political force.
I have a dream was a speech by Martin Luther King during a great success on the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on 28th August 1963. During the occasion, there were several speakers delivered their speeches and King was the final speaker and made his famous I Have a Dream Speech.
