Back from the war, he became a Democratic Congressman from the Boston area, advancing in 1953 to the Senate. He married Jacqueline Bouvier on September 12, 1953. In 1955, while recuperating from a back operation, he wrote Profiles in Courage, which won the Pulitzer Prize in history. In 1956 Kennedy almost gained the Democratic nomination for Vice President, and four years later was a first-ballot nominee for President. Millions watched his television debates with the Republican candidate, Richard M. Nixon. Winning by a narrow margin in the popular vote, Kennedy became the first Roman Catholic President.
His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." As President, he set out to redeem his campaign pledge to get America moving again. His economic programs launched the country on its longest sustained expansion since World War II; before his death, he laid plans for a massive assault on persisting pockets of privation and poverty.
The background of the speech :
The inauguration ceremony is a defining moment in a president career, and no one
knew this better than John F.Kennedy as he prepared four his own inauguration on jan 20.1961.
It was a particularly created piece of oratory that dramatically announced a generation change in the W.H and called on the nation to combat “tyranny, poverty, disease and war it self . John.F.Kennedy like Eisenhower, suggestions of money spent on modern weapons can be better utilized to solve social problems. The recommends that inspections and control of arms can be used to gain trust amng powerful nations. The realizes that this increased military production will not benefit the world in proposes.
Furthermore, the issues which concerned Kennedy were the (old war between U.S and the Soviet Union about the battle for supremancy in sporce in the minds of newly liberated nations, civil rights such as racial equality, and the humanity such as against porerty ,disease and threat to all humanity represented by the worlds nuclear arsenals.
The promotes communication as a root to problem-solving rather than the run of war “”ask not what or country can do for you.and ask what you can do for your country,
Because of those reasons he comes out with the speech that called the nation to be active citizens and fights against, tyranny, diseas and war.
Style of the speech:
IN my opining i think the speech of JOHN F.Kennedy is informative and persuasive speech because he likes Eisenhower, suggestions of money spent on modern weapons can be better utilized to solve social problems. The recommends that inspections and control of arms can be used to gain trust amng powerful nations. The realizes that this increased military production will not benefit the world in proposes.
MY OPINION ABOUT HIS PERSONALITY:
